Patsy Santo papers, 1938-2006.

The Patsy Santo papers include printed and ms. material by and relating to Bennington folk artist Patsy Santo. Also includes letters and memos from the 1990s between Violetta Santo and lawyer Eugene Clark relating to the artist's estate and his children's efforts to register copyright for his paintings. There is also license-related material from several companies that published some of Santo's work in the form of cards or prints. Also includes one folder of photographs of paintings by Patsy Santo, most in black and white, but some in color. A few show Santo himself painting or posing with paintings. Further includes copies of Christmas cards that reproduce winter scenes by Santo.

Patsy Santo was born in Corsano, Italy, December 25, 1893. At the age of 20 he came to the U.S. and worked a variety of jobs in Albany, Greenwich, and Hoosick Falls, N.Y. In 1917, he married Irene White and the couple settled in Bennington, Vt., where they had two children, Violetta and Carl.
